Direct Funeral Services, Albuquerque, New Mexico: Modern day grave robbers... It is 61 days now and my dear beloved Uncle Ted has still not been laid to rest
Direct Funeral Services phony invoice statement to fraudulently access and drain trust accounts at South Valley Care Center
Direct Funeral Services was prepaid $1000.00 in 2000 for prepayment in full for making the final arrangements of our dear beloved Uncle Theodore Pedersen upon his demise. Mt. Calvary Cemetary was prepaid $2093 for a burial plot, concrete burial vault, opening and closing of the grave, and for an engraved headstone with setting fee. The arrangements had been made by a guardian of my legally declared mentally incompetent uncle who believed he was on a cruise ship.
NOT offered a price list or burial options
While in Albuquerque, New Mexico for 5 days specifically for the purpose to visit my uncle and attend to my uncle's final arrangements; my Uncle Theodore Pedersen died in the early afternoon on 1/10/09, and had been removed so quickly by Direct Funeral Services from the South Valley Care Center nursing home while his body was still warm before I arrived for an afternoon visit.
When Direct Funeral Services was called by a staff member from the nurses station, I was told by Mike Mahoney of Direct Funeral Services that my uncle was going to receive an immediate burial in a cloth covered pressed wood casket, and could not have a cremation to have his ashes shipped to Norway.
Mike Mahoney of Direct Funeral Services refused to let me see my uncle and informed me that I would have to call back to make an appointment on the following Monday to pay an additonal $195 upfront if I wanted to see him or say goodbye, I love you and kiss him one last time. I was NOT offered a price list, or options in funeral or burial arrangements.
The following Wednesday, 1/14/09 after I had returned back home to Washington State, I received a phone call from Mike Mahoney of Direct Funeral Services informing me that my uncle Theodore Pedersen had not been buried yet and that an additonal $2500 in funds were located in my uncles trust accounts at the South Valley Care Center nursing home from his trust account funds.
No apologies were offered for why my beloved uncle had not yet been laid to rest after 4 days, nor for the failure why the original prepaid contract had not been performed.
Mike Mahoney of Direct Funeral Services informed me that their plan was all I had to do was sign some papers and fax them back, "to get the money out of there" from my Uncle Theodore Pedersen's trust accounts at the South Valley Care nursing center, so they could use up the $3500 so my uncle could be laid to rest.
One document Mike Mahoney at Direct Funeral Services insisted I was to "just sign and fax back right away" was the invoice statement signed by Mike Mahoney of Direct Funeral Services for many funeral services that were not requested and would be superfluous; a headstome and setting fee (that had already been prepaid at the Mt. Calvary cemetary); the total for unrequested services charges was incorrectly added by a $90 error; and yet arrives at the $3533.44 figure equal to draining all funds from my Uncle Theodore Pedersen's trust accounts from the nursing home.*
*The balance listed on my uncles nursing home trust accounts add up to $2532.01; for a total of $3532.01 including the $1000 prepayment made to Direct Funeral Services.
PLEASE NOTE that although the addition on Direct Funeral Services invoice statement is incorrect by an error of $90.00 off; the total of $3533.44 of unrequested and prepaid services, double-charged, billed and paid to itself by Direct Funeral Services is over by only a mere $1.43 from the $3532.01 available with the funds taken from my uncle's trust accounts .
Another document Mike of DIrect Funeral Services insisted that I signed and faxed back right away was for me to falsely admit to the Federal Trade Commision Funeral Act laws statement that I was given any price lists and funeral and burial options before discussing any funeral or burial arrangements, as must be done as legally required by law.
The third document requested to be faxed back right away was the decedent's information sheet.
Direct Funeral Services invoice statement of 1/14/09 to extract and drain all trust funds from my Uncle Theodore Pedersen's trust accounts without my family's permission or authority.
Phone message admitting draining trust accounts
Phone message left on 1/15/09 from Mike Mahoney of Direct Funeral Services claiming that the Social Security trust funds had been successfully removed from my uncles trust accounts at the South Valley Care Center nursing home.
My phone number (360) xxxxxx is a viable phone number to reach me.
Thank you for faxing and sending the pricelists and statement. Some of my questions: Last Friday, 1/10/09 Mike and I agreed to having an immediate burial performed, without a showing or services so per our agreement the charge should be $550 and not $895 as charged. Furthermore, our agreement to have an immediate burial performed eliminates the overcharges of Other Preparations of Body $195, Graveside Service $150, Transfer of Remains to Funeral Home $150, Hearse Graveside $150, nor clothing $200.
The prepayment received should be applied to the 2 piece ABS vault $590, and an 18 GA.Steel Gasketed casket $1690.
Please provide and send information and pricelists for the headstone and setting fees being charged on the statement. I look forward to finalizing my uncles burial arrangements.
Attached is the information sheet filled out with Ted's correct name: Thom Theudor Pedersen, birthplace, and other information gleaned from my grandfather's published autobiography and family records.
Thank you, Ana Pedersen Unum
Mt. Calvary Cemetary
I contacted Mt. Calvary Cemetary business offices and learned that Direct Funeral Services had called and checked with their business office prior to double charging for a vault, headstone and setting fee, to learn what burial arrangements had been prepaid.
The administrators at My Calvary Cametary were stunned to learn that Direct Funeral Services was double charging for their cemetary services and had already fraudulently received payment for the headstone and setting fee from my uncles trust accounts at South Valley Care Center!
61 days dead and still not laid to rest
Since getting caught with the fraudulent invoice statement, Direct Funeral Services has repeatedly refused to perform any contracts or services for my dear beloved Uncle Ted, as they fraudulently charge up and pay themselves large refrigeration fees from the fraudulently begotten trust funds.
Meanwhile my dear beloved Uncle Ted is 61 days dead now and my decomposing dear departed beloved Uncle Ted has still has not been laid to rest.
For 61 days Direct Funeral Services has my dear departed beloved
Uncle Ted's body,
was prepaid in full to bury him,
fraudulently raided his trust accounts for additonal money to bury him,
has repeatedly refused to cooperate to make burial and funeral serivce arrangements,
refused to cremate him
raiding the trust funds prevents us and steals the money to have our beloved uncle taken to be buried or cremated elsewhere
refused to return phone calls or emails.
