The Unum Luggage System

  This beautiful bespoke luggage system was developed and created in 1999 as a perfect graduation gift for a delightful young lady heading to horse college.     This luggage system combines a garment bag, riding boot bag and helmet/hat bag that has everything perfectly   ready   for horsing around, the horse show, lesson, seminar, clinic, or weekend get away.     The three bags can be used separately or attached together into one convenient unit for check-in.  

The custom personalized label is 24 K gold lettering stamped on leather.  

Edged with full grain cowhide leather trim and leather handles with imported tapestry details, the garment bag has an easy-care burgundy 600 denier water-resistent outer shell to protect its contents when in transit. An adjustable removable padded shoulder strap makes carrying hands-free easy.

2 large zippered outer pockets are conveniently located for easy packing and access.

The boot bag is trimmed with leather, with imported tapestry and leather details and lined with strong yet light weight breathable felt to keep boots in their own compartments, polished, scuff and scratch free.   Handy interior and exterior pockets contain boot polishing cloths and boot care packets.   Double zippers make boot access easy.   The handle is adjustable.  

Trimmed with leather, with imported tapestry and leather details, the helmet or hat bag is also felt lined to add structure and protection.   The adjustable opening top edge gathers and clips.   A net inner pocket keeps a cleaning cloth/ brush handy.

When combined with the garment bag, the helmethat bag   nestles right alongside the matching boot bag.  

When the garment bag is unclipped, laid open and hung up, a beautiful imported tapestry inner liner is revealed.  

Trimmed with leather, and leather and tapestry details, multiple roomy zippered pockets and see-through net compartments provides room for anything like gloves, sunscreen, wipes, socks, collars, hair accessories, safety pins, Blackberry, or programs.  

Some zipper pulls are rawhide leather ties that can be easily removed and used so handily for any last minute or emergency tack repairs.

A very handy removable mirror ensures you look perfect as you enter the arena.  And there are even several very convenient   loops to hang your winning ribbons, hair ribbons, neck tie, gloves on.

Depending on how the Unum Luggage System garment bag is hung or suspended, it makes an outstanding dressing privacy screen for any last minutes changes to ensure that you look your best, and that your whites stay white before entering the arena. 

The garment bag is long enough to accommodate driving, hunt, or shad belly dressage riding coats, breeches, and chaps.   3-day Eventers can get a different Unum Luggage System for keeping cross-country, stadium jumping, and dressage attire ready for transport to and from the event... but this system is perfect for all kinds of equestrian activities, whether English or Western, polo, hunting, Driving... and the garment bag is versatile by itself and is perfect for travel, business or pleasure.     Just clip in beautifully matching shoe bag, cosmetic, or laptop bag components instead.

A secret pocket is hidden to protect valuables.   An adjustable inner strap holds garments in place and an inner loop holds the top of the coat hangers together for neat and easy transport.     The zipper closures can be securely locked.

The two roomy outer pockets are perfect for packing extra riding breeches and shirts, or overnight stuff.

When the garment bag is folded and the sides clipped together, a bag is formed with a tapestry inner compartment and pockets.   The boot and hat bags simply nestle and clip inside.

My Belt To Go With My Purse And My Boots. Chestnut brown leather belt with a cordovan red cordoba leather lining.  Hardware from Tandy.  I designed and made this uni-sex belt to wear in my hip-hugger low rise bell-bottom pants. My idea was to use something else and other hardware items besides buckles as fastener hardware... for instance a hasp with a snap clip, equestrian hardware for a horsey or mounted regimental feel, or this purse hardware.   Adjustable by the brass snaps in the back.  One hand fingertip operation to open and close the latch to buckle and unbuckle my belt made fastening and unfastening my pants fingertip easy.  Look!  How charming!  How delightful! The hook in the hole of the clasp almost looks like a Ghurka knife plunging into its sheath as it is thrust into the little hole.   Not for sale.  If the original Marley Hodgson Ghurka bag No. 1 is in the Smithsonian Institution, then maybe my boots, belt, and bag should join them!  (I am very curious if it is my original bag, which Marley Hodgson had kept, that is in the Smithsonian Institution.)
