My grandfather (seated far right) with his siblings and parents in St. Petersburg, Russia.  Is that a dashing Ohno soul patch to attract and escort a tsarina?  Is that ermine trim on my great grandmothers dress?  Most of my mothers family was slaughtered in WWI and WWII.

Ghurka soldiers?  Not.  My grandfather was a colonel in the army of the tsar of Russia, Nicholas and this was a favorite picture of some of his regiment leaders.
